Vonage will give startups access to a swathe of its APIs as part of its redesigned Startup Program.

“With the Vonage Startup Program, we are empowering developers to build or enhance applications and create value for enterprises,”

Christophe Van de Weyer, President and Head of Business Unit API for Vonage, said.

“Through early access to communications APIs and network APIs, they can develop innovative solutions that help them scale their businesses, create operational efficiencies, enhance customer experiences, and accelerate growth.”

By giving access to its API Platform, the move positions Vonage to grandfather in any startups with its platform as part of their tech stack.

Vonage Startup Program

The Vonage Startup Program was originally launched as “Vonage for Startups” in early 2021, specifically designed to support startup companies by providing access to Vonage’s communications APIs, resources, and mentorship.

This new announcement, however, represents Vonage’s effort to reinvigorate its ecosphere of startup customers.

The Program focuses on early-stage growth with increased credit offers, training, and premier access to advanced platform capabilities.

World’s Leading Startups

OpenAI, valued at $300 billion, is the third-highest valued startup currently.

Of the top five most valued startups, only AI companies are represented more than once, with xAI being the fourth most valued startup at $113 billion.

Program members will also get credit bonuses for referring other startups that are accepted into the program.

Its stated aims are to ensure access to the building blocks needed in the discovery of next-wave breakthrough applications.

Members will have access to hands-on mentorship, dedicated onboarding support, training and education on Vonage’s broad portfolio of APIs, and tutorials on how to embed these programmable capabilities into applications, websites, and workflows.

By baking their solutions into a startup’s operations early, Vonage is positioning itself to be part of the make-up of a company that could go on to become worth millions, if not billions, of dollars.

Why now? Because, thanks to AI, many names generating millions in investment and positioning themselves to be market leaders are startups.

What Startups Get from the Program

Through the Program, member businesses will receive customized connectivity to Vonage APIs.

Key features include:

  • Voice
  • Video
  • Verification
  • Messaging
  • Network APIs
  • RCS.

The RCS-branded communications are hoped to give startups the best chance to convert communications into customers by helping them improve click-through rates and boost conversions.

Equally, Vonage’s Network APIs can give users the ability to create AI-led transformational solutions with access to intelligent network capabilities, enabling them to build advanced applications.

The Vonage Startup Program will also provide members with resources and support such as:

Learning
Startups receive access to Vonage’s technical resources and curated content, enabling them to quickly learn how to integrate and maximize Vonage APIs-saving valuable development time.
Building
Participants can use Vonage products through a credits package and benefit from tailored technical sessions. This support helps startups develop their minimum viable product (MVP), expand their reach, and accelerate business growth.
Supporting
Vonage provides resources customized to each startup’s needs, empowering founders to address technical or operational challenges as they arise.
Connecting
Startups become part of the Vonage Program community, offering opportunities to connect and collaborate with other founders, developers, and advocates in the ecosystem.

Vonage’s API Expansion

Vonage’s APIs are noted for their unique abilities and strengths due to it being part of Ericsson.

As a result, they have been able to introduce APIs like Silent Authentication.

Utilizing Vonage’s network, Silent Authentication enables more seamless verification of customers with its Verify API that eliminates the need for One-Time Passwords.
