Workplace from Facebook has hit seven million paid subscribers, Facebook CEO, Mark Zuckerberg, has revealed.
Posting on Facebook, Zuckerberg said the figure has risen 40 per cent over the last year.
βWe built Workplace as an internal version of Facebook to run our own company, and it was so useful we started letting other organizations use it too, including everyone from Spotify to Starbucks to the World Health Organization,β he said.
βMore companies are starting to use our virtual reality tools for work as well, and Iβm excited to work on more new ways for people to work together that werenβt possible beforeβ
In a press release, Facebook said that other high-profile customers of the platform include BT, Virgin Atlantic, Deliveroo and AstraZeneca. It said that the growth in customers is coming as companies are βthinking about how to build communities at workβ.
It also claimed to be βuniquely positionedβ to help do this, citing functions such as real-time communications and live video.
Julien Codorniou, Vice President at Workplace, said: βOne of the long-term impacts of the pandemic is that employees expect more from their employers.
βThey want to feel part of a community that levels the playing field, hears their ideas and supports them through uncertainty.
βWe are proud of Workplaceβs growth because it means more companies are building these types of communities, and the features we are launching today will help them thrive.β
