Up-and-coming business telecoms specialist Nix Communications Group has launched its acquisition programme by purchasing Opus Telecom Ltd.
The takeover of the Derbyshire-based firm, which includes Opus subsidiary Phipps Communications Ltd, will double the size of Nix and increase turnover to £12 million a year.
Nix, which has offices in Hampshire, the Isle of Wight and Manchester, specialises in business phone systems, broadband and call management. The company says the purchase of Opus and Phipps will be the start of an ambitious acquisition programme as it looks to expand its reach around the country and develop new areas for the business.
It is also planning to open a startup and SME business hub in Romsey, Hampshire, and has just completed the purchase of a building for the purpose.
The addition of Opus and Phipps will expand Nix Group into the Unified Communications market. Opus offers a full range of contact centre and mobile UC products and services, including Mitel sales and maintenance services. Phipps focuses on UC services for SMEs and self-employed professionals.
Nick Zammit, director of Nix Communications Group, said:
The first half of 2016 has seen yet more success for us, and the NIX brand is building fast. Completing on our first two acquisitions has made us stronger than ever.
Mark Castle, managing director of Opus and Phipps, said:
This deal is great news for our customers who will enjoy access to the same quality of service that they’ve come to expect from Opus and Phipps, with the added reassurance that we have the backing of a larger organisation with additional skills and expertise.
