Listen to the episode here.

Our usual expert guest and Microsoft MVP Tom Arbuthnot, from Modality Systems, joins Patrick to review all of the Microsoft Teams news from the past few weeks.

Firstly Patrick and Tom look back at the big news from last month. There is further information following the announcement of Skype for Business Online’s retirement date. Tom explains that Microsoft have revealed that certain 3IP Skype for Business phones will now only work with Microsoft Teams up until the 31st of July 2023. This news may accelerate the refresh process for organisations who are using the devices now and will want to utilise them with Microsoft Teams after the retirement date in 2021.

As usual Tom and Patrick then move on to review the Microsoft Team’s news from the last few weeks. Tom tells Patrick that Microsoft Teams PSTN Audio Conferencing will be made available via Direct Routing for GCC High and GCC DoD. After taking Patrick through all of the details Tom then gives us an update on a hotly anticipated new Team’s feature.

Announced during Enterprise Connect 2019, Team’s, content capture for whiteboard feature caused a big stir. Allowing users to capture graphics from a physical whiteboard, using one of the specially selected third party cameras, the new feature will be of interest to a lot of organisations. It also includes the ability to make a presenter appear transparent so remote users can still see information displayed on a whiteboard if their view is blocked or impaired. This new feature will be rolled out shortly in the coming Team’s updates.

There is yet more Team’s news to cover in this month’s edition. Tom tells Patrick about new Microsoft Team’s certified ceiling microphones from Sennheiser, Crestron and Biamp. Microsoft have also added another territory to the list for Team’s Data residency as organisations in South Korea will now be able to keep their platform data within their region. Patrick and Tom also review Microsoft Team’s potential in the contact centre as partner organisations like Five9, NICE and Genesys have announced their intention to use the collaboration platform within CX provision.

Finally the guys look ahead to Microsoft Ignite 2019. Ignite is Microsoft’s global customer conference and Tom will speaking during the event.
