Google is updating the Google Meet experience yet again, this time, with an innovative hardware room kit. The company unveiled the Google Meet Series One system as the first meeting room hardware solution to bring AI-powered video to the business landscape.

The next-generation meeting room hardware package comes with everything you need to create an intelligent meeting experience. The Series One sound bar and compute system are both equipped with the Coral Accelerator Module and Google Edge Tensor Processing Units, or TPUs to drive video and audio connections. Series One room kits also come in 3 room size configurations.

The new video conferencing partnership comes in partnership with innovative technology company Lenovo, to help the modern workforce as it plans a return to the office. The kits support both large rooms (minimal population), and smaller meeting spaces too.

What to Expect from the Series One

We’re living in a world where everyone seems to be holding more video meetings than ever. Google developed the Series One kits to help companies stay more connected with features that boost collaboration, such as:

  • Power-over-ethernet for a more convenient one-cable installation
  • TrueVoice proprietary voice isolation and multi-channel noise reduction
  • Onboard AI with Google’s innovative Edge TPUs
  • Chrome OS embedded for easy setup, alongside automatic feature, and security upgrades
  • New 4K smart cameras with large image sensors and high resolution capacity
  • Automatic zooming and framing for meeting participants

The Series One hardware features Google’s creative design, but the partnership with Lenovo ensures that all of the hardware can provide second-to-none quality. This product contains a number of different pieces, including a 12mp smart camera, or a 20.3MP camera if you’re looking for something to support bigger conference rooms. Google also says that the camera can detect faces and use digital tilt, pan, and zoom functions too.

There’s also a smart bar for audio with a collection of eight beam-forming mics that can manage up to 44 channels simultaneously. Google says the innovative microphones can enhance human voices and filter out sounds like typing too. The TrueVoice multi-channel technology for voice amplification and noise cancellation aims to enhance the audio of every conversation.

A New Experience for Meet

The whole setup comes with the Chrome OS-based system that’s custom-made to help with processing video and audio at a rapid rate. Depending on the kit you buy, you’ll be able to control your meetings either using a 10.1-inch touchscreen or a rechargeable remote control. Both of these tools will also come with access to Google Assistant.

Google says that companies will be able to enjoy an effortless installation and management experience with the Meet kit. The Compute System within the Series One is easy to install and update with the latest patches. Everything also comes with easy management through the Google Admin console, including status checks, device setup, and issue resolutions without anyone having to visit the same room as the hardware.

Over-the-air automatic updates will even make it easier to manage an entire fleet of Google hardware from a distance. The tools will always continue to run the latest firmware, with updated security patches and innovations arriving all the time. Every component also receives rigorous testing for durability in high-use environments.

According to Google, as your room size and meeting needs change, you can also expand your kit with more features and microphone pods. There’s even an add-on audio bar available to fill your room with the best possible sound. Audio calibration is also available for room acoustics, so that you can transform the way your room feels with a single touch.

Designed with You In Mind

According to Google, the new Meet hardware has the end-user in mind, particularly during this time when it’s so important for meetings to be as intuitive and immersive as possible. The Series One Room kits feature high-quality materials – as you might expect from Google. You can also access this equipment in two color models, chalk, and charcoal.

This updated selection of room kit technology will expand Google’s existing hardware lineup to further enhance the Google Meet experience. Customers looking to learn more can check out Google’s announcement on the Google blog, or speak to Lenovo.
