Leaders in cloud collaboration and communication, BlueJeans, recently announced a slew of new updates to their Meetings platform for Summer 2021. The meeting company announced the most recent features in a blog post, commenting on the new pressures and challenges users are likely to face as we head into a new era of hybrid work and connectivity.

The June 2021 update focuses on a range of capabilities introduced to combat video fatigue, boost engagement, maintain privacy, and enable collaboration from any environment.

Here’s what you can expect from BlueJeans this month.

Enhanced Waiting Room and Breakout Sessions

As meetings continue to thrive as a crucial part of the hybrid workplace, BlueJeans believes that security should be at the front of everyone’s mind. The BlueJeans Meetings environment empowers users with various secure video conferencing tools to ensure private meetings stay secure.

The latest updates to the BlueJeans Waiting Room experience allows moderators to toggle waiting room options on and off easily in the corner of the meeting environment. If the waiting room is switched on, the display will show a real-time count on the number of people waiting to be admitted. Moderators can let one participant in at a time, allow everyone at once.

It’s also possible to expel specific people from waiting rooms by denying their entry. Moderators will even be able to move participants out of meetings back into the waiting room and add them in again at the right time.

Breakout sessions, on the other hand, will give groups the ability to break away from the main meeting and collaborate in smaller groups. Moderators will be able to pre-assign meeting participants to breakout rooms while scheduling their meetings. Moderators can even better plan their meetings in advance while ensuring they have the flexibility to move between sessions.

Binge Meetings, Profile Images, and More

The latest “binge” meeting enhancement on BlueJeans Meetings will allow users one-click access to join their next meeting without having to go back to the meeting dashboard. Notifications will appear on screen a minute before the next scheduled conversation.

For users that don’t want to appear in video during their next meeting, there’ll be the option to apply a profile picture, so everyone can feel fully “involved” in the conversation. BlueJeans also introduced a new Content Zoom option, giving meeting participants the option to facilitate more engaging, interactive discussions. The latest enhancement allows participants to zoom in and out of meetings quickly, by clicking on the minus or plus sign at the bottom of the screen. The same capability is available when users double click on content being shared.

Attendees can also now pin up to 25 specific videos simultaneously when trying to create a custom viewing experience. This feature will allow participants to focus on videos of their choice in larger meetings. Further updates included a new integration with Jabra, which allows users to mute/unmute calls on Jabra devices, and a participant name editing function too. This feature will be useful in learning environments where instructors might need to update student names.
