In the world of CRM and sales enablement, Seismic needs no introduction. Founded in 2010, Seismic is among the world’s most prominent sales enablement technology providers, with over 1900 customers. The company provides leading organisations such as Citrix, Rackspace, Getty Images, Hitachi, and others with cutting-edge sales enablement tools that integrate with the rest of the enterprise sales and marketing technology stack.

In August 2021, Seismic recently announced that it had acquired the training solution Lessonly to help equip sales teams with future-ready skillsets. It also closed a Series G funding round of $170 million, bringing the company’s valuation to $3 billion.

Seismic is a useful addition to the Microsoft ecosystem, allowing you to better leverage Microsoft tools like Dynamics CRM and Teams for sales success. Indeed, Seismic has a long-standing relationship with Microsoft – the two have worked together on joint projects such as driving sales content adoption for the medical equipment manufacturer Elekta. In the project, Seismic’s sales enablement technology and Microsoft’s artificial intelligence technology increased content adoption by 350%.

Seismic announced its integration with the Microsoft Office 365 suite of tools in 2017, the same year when Teams was first launched. The Seismic app for Teams is currently in version 1.0.1, offering you a simple and effective way to empower your sales teams with the right content.

Let us review the app in detail.

Inside Seismic for Microsoft Teams

To start using the Seismic integration for Teams, you need an active Seismic license and a Microsoft work account. While you can download the integration for free, you might need to upgrade to a premium tier of the Seismic platform (pricing varies between $348 and $780 per user per year) to fully gain from the Teams app.

Seismic for Microsoft Teams is available directly from Microsoft AppSource. You can also open the application store from the left navigation pane on Teams to download the integration.

Here are the key features you can expect.

  • The Seismic messaging extension – The Seismic messaging extension is at the heart of the software’s integration with Teams. When you are speaking with your co-workers via chat or channel conversations, you can use this feature to insert content from Seismic directly. For instance, if a team member discusses a specific client, you can look up and share material relevant to that client’s context. Look for the Seismic icon underneath the message compose area. Click on the icon to fetch a list of your commonly accessed and popular content on Seismic.
  • Link unfurling capabilities – Thanks to the integration, any link that you copy-paste from Seismic to Microsoft Teams will be automatically unfurled. This means that users can directly see a snapshot of the content – titled, thumbnail, and introductory section – in the Teams app. As a result, you can gain from the availability of information in the content of your workflows without the hassle of copy-pasting entire chunks of content.
  • The Seismic chatbot – The chatbot in the Seismic app for Teams can help you perform common tasks. You can enter simple commands like login, logout, and help; the bot will guide you through the consequent process. Interestingly, when you type in help, Seismic returns a list of embedded FAQ buttons that you can click to learn more.
  • Seismic search from Teams – The entire repository of sales enablement content on Seismic becomes searchable from Teams when you install the integration. Just click on the Seismic messaging extension right below the message compose area and type in your search query into the Seismic popup box. This allows you to find, retrieve, and share any content asset that you require directly inside the conversation flow.
  • Detailed insights – Seismic lets you analyse if people engage with your content. Similarly, you can monitor engagement rates using the primary Seismic platform when you share Seismic content on Teams through the messaging extension or link unfurling.
  • Integration with the larger Microsoft ecosystem – It is essential to know that Seismic is interoperable with the entire family of Microsoft products. Your sales and marketing teams using Microsoft tools can now gain from Seismic’s industry-specific capabilities.

Why the Seismic App Makes a Difference
