Enterprise IT and telephony provider Converged Communications has announced the purchase of its fellow Aberdeen IT business Century Business Solutions (CBS).

The acquisition, valued at £500,000, adds considerable expertise in systems integration, network design and installation, and remote access solutions to the Converged business, expanding its team to 25.

Founded in 2005, Converged has built its business around internet connectivity and integrated communications services, plus IT support and hosting.

Neil Christie, managing director at Converged said,

This is a notable move for Converged. To date, we have grown and expanded naturally, so our first acquisition is a major step.

Converged is in a very strong position following the major investments we have made over the past 18 months. Purchasing new premises, expanding our connectivity network and increasing our skilled technical support team illustrate our commitment to the north-east and ensuring that businesses have access to a range of network connections to operate efficiently in it.

Prior to its purchase of CBS, Converged had invested in its own internet server equipment in nine unbundled Openreach exchanges. It remains a partner in Aberdeen’s Cityfire superfast internet network and the Brightsolid data centre, but running its own unbundled servers allows the company to be more competitive in its ISP operations.
