With home and remote working on the rise, the ability of businesses to securely provide technology services for their end users is under ever more scrutiny. As one of the largest providers of professional and managed technology services worldwide, Dimension Data, are only too aware of the potential pitfalls for business. Their own research has been commissioned and shows that two years from now 49 percent of European organisations will have employees working from home full time, while 76 percent say they will have employees working from home part time. We spoke to Chris Nunn, Head of Digital Workplace Practice, about how customers of Dimension Data can be sure their digital transformation takes place in the most secure and strategic fashion.

“It’s never been more important to ensure that as a business we are delivering exceptional user experiences for clients and their employees. Modern expectations of users dictate that”

To ensure that Dimension Data meet their clients expectations they aim to provide businesses with workspaces that are productive, secure and also provide data driven intelligence. Their research highlighted concerns within the current landscape, of trends that undermine business productivity, have a lack of security and also a dearth of data analysis. This is something that Dimension Data will ensure does not affect their client base even with the rise of flexible working. Another factor that appears to hamper digital transformation within business is a lack of a clear, formalised strategy about how they plan to deploy and benefit from new workplace technologies, such as collaboration tools.

“You then have the potential for disjointed cumbersome working environments as a result – if they can’t connect and collaborate at the touch of a button it becomes a major problem”

The focus from Dimension Data’s perspective is to ensure they help their clients improve the end user experience and enable the adoption of applications to achieve that. To assist organisations in overcoming some of the challenges of digital transformation Dimension data are equipping themselves with further consumption based platforms to mitigate risk for customers. As well as providing flexible platforms allowing customers to control their costs more closely and even reduce them over time. Consulting is key to ensure strategies are aligned to the businesses objectives. Organisations often have multiple providers in place for different aspects of their critical business systems and Dimension Data aim to join these disparate services together.

“We feel we are ideally positioned with our services offerings and skill sets to bring those(systems), together”

To respond to the markets needs in these areas they have recently launched two new UcaaS, Unified Communication as a Service, platforms. The first, UcaaS for Business, has been designed to allow customers to makes a simple and strategic decisions on their collaboration requirements to cater for the needs of every individual end user. For the Enterprise market they have developed a global hosted UC service aimed at organisations with 1000 users or more.

“What that allows business to do – is to retain core elements of their existing environment whilst leveraging the benefits of a utility pricing model in a Hybrid-IT model”

All of these platforms are designed to enable customers to make the right choices in terms of cloud migration and service uptake. Mitigating risk for them and increasing productivity for their end users by enabling adoption of new technology platforms with Dimension Data owning the service level agreement end to end.
