GCI have announced this week that they have acquired unified communications specialist Freedom Communications for an undisclosed sum.
The Freedom deal is the fifth deal in under 12 months for GCI, the last being the acquisition of well-known cloud business Outsourcery just a few months ago.
Adrian Thirkill CEO at GCI stated:

Freedom’s heritage and skills as a Unified Communications Systems Integrator, and its focus on transitioning customers from old world to new, is perfectly aligned with our own growth strategy and is a great fit for us.”
When it comes to strategy, Adrian Thirkill also commented:

Freedom Communications are currently based in Watford, Hertfordshire and has long standing partnerships with Microsoft, Hewlett-Packard Enterprise, Alcatel Lucent Enterprise, Aruba Networks, Interactive Intelligence and Gamma Telecom.
In particular, Freedom are well-known for their expertise with Microsoft’s flagship unified communications platform Skype for Business. One good reason for the two companies to come together.
The Freedom deal will add approximately 40,000 more Skype for business seats to GCI’s portfolio, totalling 180,000 telephony seats combined.
