Microsoft 365 and OREO THINS have teamed up to encourage workers to take a 15-minute snack break.

The new initiative, called ‘THINVITE’, is designed to reduce employee burnout and improve workplace wellbeing. A WTI Pulse Report shows that 15-minute breaks between back-to-back meetings can help to reduce stress levels.

‘THINVITE’ can be added directly into your calendar. Each invitation includes a Microsoft Teams live event link to an entertaining video, Return to Pawfice, which will debut at the start of the initiative, November 1st 2022.

Nicole Herskowitz, Vice President at Microsoft, said: “Taking short breaks throughout the workday allows your brain to reset from the stress of back-to-back meetings. And sometimes a guilty pleasure goes a long way. Who doesn’t love an OREO?

“For National Cookie Month, Microsoft and Nabisco teamed up to create a 15-minute snack break delivered straight to your calendar – and your door.

“We’re also bringing OREO emojis to #MicrosoftTeams. They’re a fun way to remind your colleagues to take breaks!”

Microsoft has said it will be offering a limited-edition OREO THINS Snack Break Expansion Cookie Pack. Each expansion pack contains OREO THINS with office tips from the Microsoft office assistant, Clippy. It also includes a ‘Clippy Dippy’, which can be used to dunk your cookies, while keeping your hands milk-free on your break.

A new OREO THINS emoji is also being released on Microsoft Teams. You can find it by typing “oreoyum” or simply “oreo” into the emoji search box. The emojis will show up below and users can then click on the emoji and click send, as you would with any other emoji. They can be used as a means of reminding co-workers to take a break.

Microsoft wanted to reiterate the purpose behind the fun break times is to support employee wellbeing. It pointed to Microsoft VIva as an example of a technology which can be used by employees to schedule breaks, focus sessions, and more.
