The specific project for which QDOS have been recognised relates to the PPHE Hotel Group which aims to be one of the leading hotel owner/operators in the upscale and lifestyle hotel segments in key European markets.

The multi-brand portfolio comprising 38 hotels offering more than 8300 rooms includes the contemporary, upscale Park Plaza Hotels & Resorts brand, working in partnership with the Carlson Rezidor Hotel Group, across the United Kingdom, Netherlands and Germany.

The solution provided by QDOS to PPHE is a privately hosted Alcatel-Lucent centralised OmniPCX® platform, with two regional core clusters supporting the UK hotels, and a separate cluster supporting the European hotels. With the properties connected via an MPLS network, each hotel and resort has a local high-availability Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise gateway and data switches installed ensuring full survivability for disaster recovery purposes.

Centralisation provides cost savings in areas such as connectivity between hotels and resorts ensuring call charge savings, and delivers benefits of unified communication. In addition, rationalisation of legacy ISDN Lines and the provision of SIP lines with included call bundles reduces operating costs.

Previously expensive hardware maintenance contracts on legacy telephone systems are being replaced by a single maintenance programme which provides service on a full 24/7 x 365 basis.

Costs have also been contained by protecting previous investment and continuing use of existing analogue guest room handsets, while complimenting the use of new IP handsets in business areas and Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise Voice over WI-FI (VoWIFI) handsets, which has improved communication between hotel co-workers and guests.

In addition, Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise Solution Premier Service (SPS) provides a complete protection package for the customer ensuring the platform is running at peak efficiency and capacity and delivering essential software maintenance and proactive evolution to enable stability and advancement. Delivered by QDOS, SPS grants PPHE round-the-clock access to state-of-the-art technical centres which ensures a consistent and appropriate level of service anytime, anywhere.
