AV company QSC has announced Q-SYS’ first product of the year with the launch of its latest addition to the Q-SYS NV Series – the NV-1-H-WE.
This new product offers a discreet and innovative solution aimed at enhancing network video distribution in spaces where traditional surface-mount enclosures are not suitable.
“We are thrilled to announce the launch of the NV-1-H-WE wallplate encoder, which can be installed in a variety of spaces including classrooms, hospitality spaces, conference rooms and other professional environments,”
says Sanjay Kulkarni, Senior Director, Product Management, Q-SYS.
“This innovative product features a versatile wallplate form factor, thoughtfully designed for discreet integration and effortless usability for end-users.”
Examining the New Addition
A wallplate encoder is a device designed to encode video signals, such as HDMI, into a format suitable for transmission over an Ethernet network.
Unlike traditional encoders that are often standalone units requiring surface mounting, wallplate encoders are embedded into a wall or similar structure, offering a discreet and space-saving solution.
This makes it suitable for professional environments such as classrooms, conference rooms, and hospitality spaces where aesthetics and functionality are equally important.
The Q-SYS NV-1-H-WE wallplate encoder specifically supports single-channel HDMI input and integrates seamlessly into the Q-SYS ecosystem.
It enables the distribution of high-quality, low-latency video signals (up to 4K resolution) over IP networks using adaptive encoding technology like Q-SYS Shift.
Expanding the Q-SYS NV Series Portfolio
The NV-1-H-WE joins an already large lineup of Q-SYS NV Series products, including the NV-32-H multi-stream video endpoint and the recently released NV-21-HU compact, dual-channel endpoint.
These complement each other by allowing system designers to mix and match endpoints, creating customised video distribution solutions tailored to specific connectivity requirements, I/O density, and physical form factors.
Users can therefore easily connect and manage their video sources without the need for extensive technical knowledge.
This user-friendly approach can significantly reduce the learning curve for new users and minimise the need for IT support in day-to-day operations.
Equally, one of the key advantages of the NV Series devices is their seamless integration into Q-SYS systems.
The Q-SYS NV Series portfolio is designed to distribute visually lossless, low-latency video signals of up to 4K60 4:4:4 throughout Q-SYS systems using Q-SYS Shift.
Q-SYS Shift is a video compression technology developed by QSC to distribute high quality, low latency video over a standard gigabit Ethernet.
An adaptive codec that efficiently manages network bitrate, this technology refreshes only the changes between frames, significantly reducing bandwidth without compromising quality or latency.
As native Q-SYS peripherals driven by the Q-SYS OS, these devices enable effortless no-code deployments and highly intelligent automated solutions without the need for additional management or control hardware.
QSC’s New Move Under New Management
This announcement is one of the first QSCs made since it was agreed to be acquired by the industrial-technology company Acuity Brands.
QSC’s integration into Acuity’s Intelligent Spaces Group was billed as a drive to develop more technologies for more innovative, smarter, safer, and greener environments.
