As the brand’s latest enterprise IP phone offering, Grandstream claim the GXP2170 offers top of the line enterprise features that improve call quality and ensure agents are able to deliver the best possible service to their callers – but how much truth is there in these claims?
In order to find out, we’ve decided to do a review on the product and test how well it lives up to Grandstream’s reputation as one of the world’s leading producers of high quality business IP phones.
How does it look?
Beautifully designed and built for power, the GXP2170 offers multiple function and line keys alongside a luxurious 4.3-inch colour LCD display with up to 48 digital on-screen buttons making it the perfect tool for busy users who handle high call volumes.
What can it do?
Each GXP2170 phone supports 12 lines and up to 6 SIP accounts and provides 5 XML programmable context-sensitive soft keys and up to 48 digitally programmable and customisable BLF/fast-dial keys for outstanding efficiency and call control.
As well as this, the TLS and SRTP security encryption technology built in to every device ensures all calls and accounts are kept secure during every call.
In terms of audio quality, the GXP2170 features HD sound in both the handset and the full-duplex speakerphone to maximise call clarity while the five-way audio conferencing feature allows users to easily engage in conference calls with clients and colleagues at the click of a button.
With built-in Bluetooth capabilities, users are also able to seamlessly connect headsets and mobile devices for contact books, calendar integration and call transferring for a fully integrated communications experience.
For further hands-free call support, the GXP2170 Electric Hook Switch feature provides full support for Plantronics headsets and the built in Power over Ethernet (PoE) features means the phone is ready to go straight from the box and requires next to no installation times.
When used with Grandstream’s UCM series IP PBX appliance, the GXP2170 also offers Zero-Config provisioning, 1-touch call recording and many other innovative features that help agents achieve ultimate control over every call.

What did we like most?
As a phone designed specifically to help agents who receive a high volume of calls on a daily basis, we feel that the 5 XML programmable context-sensitive soft keys and up to 48 digitally programmable and customisable BLF/fast-dial keys are a great feature for helping agents manage their calls efficiently.
Who is it for?
As we previously mentioned, this phone is designed for business users who receive a high volume of calls and would therefore be ideal for front desk/switchboard operators who can benefit from the many call control features it offers. Having said that, it’s elegant design and versatility makes it a top choice for any executive looking for a top of the line enterprise grade IP phone.
