Monday.com Review: The Core Features

As we mentioned at the start of this Monday.com review, Monday is a highly flexible platform suitable for various workflows. It’s ideal for customer relationship management, software development, project management, and optimizing human resources.

The core features of the platform include:

Dashboards

Dashboards are one of the core central features of Monday.com. They can be customized (Without code) with over 50 widgets and apps, providing real-time tracking capabilities and high-level overviews to business users. Monday’s dashboards ensure you can view your data however you choose with visual reports, and make decisions based on your insights.

The widgets for Gantt charts, workload tracking and time tracking also make it easy to manage your team and projects in one convenient place. Gantt charts are also available throughout Monday.com to help you view entire projects at a glance, with timelines and task ownership.

Integrations

Ideal for the future of work, Monday.com’s ability to connect with countless tools and services ensures you can minimize context-switching for teams. The solution integrates with Microsoft Teams, Outlook, Slack, Gmail, and more than 200 other pieces of software.

Moreover, Monday.com allows you to create automated workflows through those synchronized tools. You can schedule notifications, automate emails, and track approvals in seconds.

Automation

Speaking of automation, we were particularly impressed by the automation options in our Monday.com review. The platform lets you set up custom notifications, date reminders, and handovers in seconds. You can automatically assign tasks to team members and design custom workflows with a drag-and-drop code-free builder.

Plus, since you can assign roles to specific team members in the admin environment, creating unique experiences for your employees based on their needs is easy. You can even automatically track the time users spend on specific tasks.

Gantt Charts and Kanban Boards

Kanban boards and Gantt charts are two of the significant features of Monday.com. With Gantt charts, you can easily keep track of milestones and visualize essential dates and timelines for your workloads. You’ll also be able to import spreadsheets into Monday.com from Excel.

Kanban boards are drag-and-drop customizable boards that allow you to sort tasks into different groups. This makes it simple to visualize your entire workflow in seconds. Plus, the boards come with valuable real-time data analytics. Both charts and boards on Monday.com come with support for timelines and dependencies to help organize your workload.

Collaborative Work Docs

Monday.com work docs help you harness the power of collaboration in real time through the cloud. Users can edit and create content in real time, share comments, brainstorm, and even create meeting summaries in seconds. You can also convert sections of docs into action items with a couple of clicks.

Since Monday.com also supports guest and client access, you can collaborate with external contacts in the same place. There are even tagging options, live update notifications, and board integrations for any of your Monday.com boards.

File Management

With Monday.com, users can manage their files and assets in the same collaborative space. The file-sharing system supports custom permissions, secure file storage versioning, and live annotations. Plus, there are a range of customizable templates for various files.

You can create files and documents for HR, marketing, and software development teams. There are even billing and invoicing capabilities to help with cash flow.

Business leaders can set up sales pipelines when they create a Monday.com account and even leverage a CRM learning center with pre-recorded video demonstrations. These help you with tasks like inviting users, creating checkout automation, and more.

Monday.com Review: Pricing and Plans

As mentioned earlier in this Monday.com review, the platform’s pricing structure can be tricky to understand. You’ll need to choose which specific Monday product you want to get started for and the number of seats you need to get an accurate price.

Rather than organizing pricing “per person,” Monday.com charges for groups up to a specific number. You can access tools like Monday.com work management for free if you have just two users. If you have five users, prices will start at around $49 monthly.

Notably, you can’t buy individual seats, so if you have 16 users, you’ll need a 20-person plan. Aside from calculating pricing based on the number of users you need, there are different package options too, for instance:

  • Basic: Starting at $39 monthly for five users, with 5GB of storage, unlimited boards, and 24/7 support. There are no timelines, calendar views, advanced search, or time-tracking features.
  • Standard: Starting at $49 monthly for five users, with 50GB of storage, guest access, timeline and Gantt views, calendar view, 250 automation per month, and 250 integration actions. You can also create a dashboard that combines up to 5 boards.
  • Pro: Starting at $79 per month for five users with all the features of Standard, plus unlimited storage. You also get private boards, time-tracking, chart views, and 25k automation and integration actions per month. Plus, you can create a dashboard combining ten boards.

Monday.com also offers an Enterprise plan with custom pricing based on your needs. This includes access to all the features with no limitations and enterprise-level support.

Monday.com Review: Ease of Use

Monday.com is a highly user-friendly platform. While the pricing structure might be complicated, there’s not much of a learning curve for the solution. The drag-and-drop interface makes task creation and management, team member assignment, and more extremely simple.

You can create boards and charts from scratch or use existing templates. There are dozens of options for different needs, and everything is highly customizable. You decide how many columns you want to use and what those columns do. You can even assign colors to different segments of a page.

If you’ve never used Gantt charts or Kanban boards, you might need to spend a little time experimenting. However, Monday.com offers many intuitive resources to guide you through the process. Once you’re signed up, managing everything rarely requires more than a few clicks.

Plus, it’s worth noting that Monday.com is extremely useful for combining different software solutions and tools. There are many integrations for popular apps and systems you might already be using, like Microsoft Teams.

Monday.com Review: Security and Compliance

Security is critical for any company investing in a project management app or tool for sharing files and data. The good news is that you shouldn’t have to worry about compliance issues with Monday.com. For this Monday.com review, we dove into the company’s privacy and security standards.

We discovered that Monday.com adheres to various ISO protocols, HIPAA guidelines, GDPR, and Cloud Security Alliance best practices. It also encrypts traffic using AES-256 standards and supports SOC 1 Type 2, SOC 3, SOC 2 Type II, and OSWAP’s Top 10 framework.

Monday.com has firewalls, DDoS mitigation, NIDS sensors, rate limiting, and advanced routing configuration for extra defense. It also conducts vulnerability assessments, end-to-end testing, unit testing, and static code analysis for application security.

Customer Service and Support

As Monday.com customers, we’ve never had any problems getting a response when suffering technical difficulties. You can access 24/7 support via the company’s web form. Plus, there’s a fantastic support page with self-help articles, tutorials, and videos.

If you need to contact the team directly, you might have limitations unless you have an Enterprise plan with an account manager. Fortunately, there is a live chat option if you’re looking for a quick response to a pressing question.

We were particularly impressed by the company’s webinars and videos, which deliver valuable instructions to companies getting started with the solution for the first time.

Monday.com Review: The Verdict

Ultimately, we think Monday.com is an excellent project and task management tool. It’s brimming with useful features to suit every need, whether you’re trying to track your budget or simply work with team members on a collaborative project.

The biggest downside to the solution is its complex pricing. Although Monday.com is relatively affordable, it’s difficult to understand its pricing structure, and the free tier only supports two users. However, if you can get past that problem, you’re sure to appreciate the functionality Monday.com offers. It’s an excellent time saver and a fantastic resource for distributed teams.
