RingCentral has become Mitelβs βexclusive UCaaS partnerβ after the pair announced a new alliance.
The deal will see Mitel nudge its customer base of 35 million users towards RingCentralβs Message Video Phone (MVP) platform and sees Mitelβs private equity backers invest $200m in RingCentral.
RingCentral also announced the $650m acquisition of Mitelβs CloudLink technology β a cloud platform that enables migration from on-premises PBX to the cloud.
Vlad Shmunis, RingCentral CEO, said: βWe are bringing together the best of Mitel and RingCentral to give customers the right communications and collaboration solutions for their needs.
βGiven our maniacal customer-centric focus, weβre delighted to now be able to offer customers a flexible and differentiated digital transformation path.β
The partnership will see the RingCentral MVP platform marketed under its own name, differing from the firmβs collaborations with the likes of Avaya and Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise.
RingCentral and Mitel plan to increase the integration between their technologies in 2022, starting with Mitel phone and device support for RingCentral MVP.
βThe key differentiated feature of this new partnership is that Mitelβs users will be able to utilize RingCentralβs cloud-based video and team messaging capabilities alongside Mitelβs on-premise technology,β Shmunis said on an earnings call with investorsβ
βThis will be provided via RingCentralβs unified MVP app and administrative portal. Mitelβs on-premise PBX users will then be able to migrate to RingCentralβs full cloud PBX at their own pace, which is the path that is unique in the industry.β
The partnership was announced as RingCentral revealed its revenue in Q3 rocketed 37 percent year on year to $415m. Subscriptions revenue was up 38 percent to $385m.
Recently appointed Mitel CEO, Tarun Loomba, said: βWe are excited to bring the market-leading UCaaS solution to our customers and channel partners with RingCentral as our exclusive UCaaS partner.
βThe unique depth of this partnership furthers our strategy of delivering world-class communications to our customers and providing them a clear and flexible path for the future.β
The partnership is the latest announced by RingCentral and follows deals with Avaya, Atos, Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise and Vodafone.
